How early should we book our wedding entertainment/band?
There is so much to do in the run up to a wedding that the more things you can organise well in advance, the better. One of these activities is organising the entertainment. The quicker you start looking the more options you will have. Some of our acts are booked two years in advance and the majority of people will look to book their entertainment one year to 6 months in advance. We have had clients come to us with one month’s notice who were thrilled on their wedding day with the entertainment we sourced. We have even stood in to help out a couple that were let down with a week to go to their wedding when we found them top quality entertainment

How do we decide on the best band for us?
Irish Wedding Entertainment has worked with the majority of quality artists. Our team can advise on any style of entertainment. We will listen to what you would like and we will offer options based upon your needs. You will be able to go see the entertainment and decide for yourself if it is perfect for your unique taste. If you are undecided about what you would like, our friendly staff will offer options to you and help you in any way we can

Will our band/entertainment play any song on request?
Your band/DJ/artist will certainly play requests and customise their set. You must remember to give them plenty of notice so that they can rehearse songs. You should start thinking about your favourite songs as soon as you can and get your entertainment involved too. They want your wedding to be as successful as you do and they often have great suggestions for you.

Can we ask our wedding entertainment not to sing certain songs or styles?
Of course we will provide you with a set list for your act. If there is a song that you do not like we will inform our artists.

Can my brother sing a song with the band or in the church?
Some musicians are happy play along with a singer (professional or amateur) in the church but bear in mind that they may need to rehearse together in advance. Most bands don't encourage people singing with them as they need to protect their equipment however it's always worth asking your band directly.

How long will the band play?
Most of our acts will play for two hours followed by a DJ.

What time will the band arrive?
What time you want your act to arrive at will be determined by yourselves with our assistance. The Church entertainers will set up in plenty of time before the ceremony begins. Our acts are used to playing at corporate functions and Staff parties so they will set up before you sit down for dinner and be ready to play as soon as the meal is over if required. Be sure to check with your venue where the reception is being held. Some rooms will not have the facility to allow an act to set up before the meal as the room may be too small.

What price should I pay for bands?
It happens so much at weddings that bands that play for €400 or €500 in a pub at the weekend all of a sudden charge up to €2,000 for a wedding, so you are paying €2000 for something worth €500. Our acts play the best venues in the country and at some of the biggest corporate functions. We only deal with artists of this quality so you are assured that the acts you book are actually worth the money you are paying. Our bands start at €1500.

Are there any hidden costs?
No, the fee we quote is the cost. The only time this will not be the case is if an act has to travel 4 or 5 hours, for example, or from abroad, we will ask for accommodation to be provided. This will all be explained upfront in your initial quote and will be included in your contract.

Will I have a contract?
Irish Wedding Entertainment insists that contracts are sent out to all our wedding clients for all wedding entertainment booked. This gives you peace of mind that the entertainment you have booked is safe. Irish Wedding Entertainment only deals with quality acts who are full- time musicians.

How do I know we're getting a quality band?
We have years of experience dealing with only the best acts in the country, We do not work with an act unless we have seen it and are happy it is up to our standard. When you enquire about an act we can send you a DVD or CD of an act and give you the option to see the act live in the majority of cases.

What kind of music can/can't be played in churches and registry offices?
Sacred music such as hymns are very appropriate for church weddings and there is a huge variety of songs in different styles to choose from. Some churches will be happy to have one or two secular (non religious) songs also at moments like the signing of the register but you should check all your selections with your church first. For registry office ceremonies the music you choose must be secular and must be played before and after the service but not during it. Your wedding entertainer will advise you more as they have a lot of valuable experience to offer.
